                                                    LINDA SAPPINGTON                        GOVERNOR- ELECT NOMINEE

Linda Sappington, currently District 5420’s Public Image Chair, was selected from a roster of amazing candidates to serve as Utah District Governor in RY2020-21.  The first female member of Rotary in Southern Utah joined in 1993 and after being told “you haven’t hurt us too much” was elected as her club’s Ms. President in 1997-98;  served twice as secretary, several times on her club board and in 2008-09, she was tapped to chair District 5420’s conference in St. George on behalf of PDG Gilbert Trujillo.

Her education and background is in public relations but she also loves volunteering and for many years directed the Volunteer Center Network in Washington, Iron and Kane Counties, with more than 2000 volunteers in seven programs, including the three programs of the National Senior Service Corps (RSVP, Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions) with funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service and oversight by the Five County Association of Governments.

A prolific writer, she has also contributed thousands of column inches to her local newspapers and magazines; co-wrote “The Insiders’ Guide to Southern Utah” and five detailed histories for family and St. George residents; manages five blogs and is currently working part time as a grant writer for several non-profit organizations in her community.

But, her favorite “job” is that of wife, mother to eight, including 25-year-old identical twins from Guyana, South America where she and her husband served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2011-12); as well as “grand” to 19 and “great” to 5.

Still a little in shock at being selected to follow in the footsteps of the amazing District Governors who have preceded her, Linda is also excited for this opportunity and looks forward to working with the many outstanding District and Zone leaders.
