Rotary Youth Programs
Utah Rotary (District 5420) participates in the four youth programs of Rotary International - Interact Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), and Youth Exchange.
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for secondary school students, ages 14-18. Interact gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects. Interact clubs perform at least two projects a year, with one serving the community and the other furthering international understanding. Along the way, Interactors develop their leadership skills and initiative while meeting new friends.

Rotaract was founded in 1968. There are just over 7,500 members across 155 countries worldwide.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) was first developed in New Zealand and Australia in 1959 to fulfill a need to recognize and develop outstanding young people. RYLA was later adopted by Rotary International and is now held throughout the world. RYLA programs are held in Asia, India, Africa, Europe, South America and North America.
In District 5420 the activity is reserved for high school students in their junior year. Approximately 150 students attend the three one-half day event.

Rotary Youth Exchange: As a Rotary Youth Exchange student, you’ll spend up to a year living with host families and attending school in a different country.
Whether you participate in Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, you’ll learn a new way of living, a great deal about yourself, and maybe even a new language. You’ll also be an ambassador, teaching people you meet about your country, culture, and ideas. You can help bring the world closer – and make some good friends in the process.
For over 75 years, students and host families have broadened their horizons through Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and over 8,000 students each year participate in the program, which is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs.
